MX5 Mk1 – Red paint restoration

Remember the pink MX5 from earlier in the week? Well, here it is, in all its glory!

There were some areas that couldn’t be saved. The front bumper had been painted, it had reacted and crazed, and was flaking off. The real fix would be a repaint, but we think we got the best out of it. With classic red, the plastic parts are always more tricky, and this was the case with the mirrors and rear number plate panel. The paint on the latter was already too thin, so we could only give it our gentle touch, but at least it’s red again. The front wing and bonnet were a great success, and on the whole, for a 20 year old Mazda, it came out pretty well…we hope you’ll agree!
